Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about VibeLevel — what it is, how assessments work, trust and integrity, and pricing.
General
What is VibeLevel?
VibeLevel is an AI-native skills assessment platform. It turns real AI-enabled work into evidence: individuals can practice and build shareable skill signals, while hiring teams can evaluate how candidates use AI to plan, build, review, test, debug, and ship reliable work.
Why VibeLevel?
- Candidates increasingly use AI tools to produce polished resumes, portfolios, and work samples, making it hard for hiring teams to tell candidates apart on paper. Teams then spend significant time on first-round calls, only to discover later that a candidate lacks the role-specific skills required. VibeLevel gives teams evidence from the work itself before they commit more interview time.
- Working with AI is a systems skill — it requires subject knowledge, the ability to define a clear goal, provide context, direct an AI agent, review its output, and course-correct when the result is wrong. Traditional tests and Q&A interviews don’t reliably assess this, because the skill being measured is probing and guiding the AI, not just answering a candidate’s questions.
What makes VibeLevel different from other assessments or video Q&A platforms?
As AI tools and agents become part of everyday engineering and non-engineering work, AI fluency — the ability to frame problems, provide context, direct AI agents, evaluate output, correct mistakes, and take ownership — is becoming a critical professional skill. VibeLevel is built for this AI era: it measures how people work with AI in realistic workflows, not just whether they can produce an answer or write an effective prompt.
VibeLevel also measures the role-specific skills that matter for the job, using a verified skills taxonomy and assessment criteria tied to the role. Most other platforms offer either a traditional assessment or simple AI pairing — not a comprehensive assessment engine like VibeLevel.
Is VibeLevel a replacement for interviews?
No. VibeLevel helps hiring teams filter for candidates who have already demonstrated the skills required for a specific job role. It helps teams spend less time on candidates who only look qualified on paper and get to the right hire faster. VibeLevel can replace or shorten a screening step, while interviews remain valuable for deeper discussion and human judgment.
What kinds of work can VibeLevel assess?
VibeLevel supports both coding and non-coding assessments across a broad range of roles, languages, and stacks, using tools like Claude Code or a full agentic web IDE similar to ChatGPT, Perplexity, and VS Code. Assessments can be configured around the role, level, requirements, tech stack, workflow, and standards your team uses.
Getting started
Who can use VibeLevel?
- Hiring teams and talent acquisition teams who want evidence of role-specific and AI-fluency skills before advancing a candidate to a technical interview.
- IT services and staffing companies who can pre-vet candidates with VibeLevel before submitting them to a client, improving submission-to-approval rates.
- Interviewers running live, hands-on technical interviews, who can use VibeLevel’s assessment environment as the shared workspace during the call itself.
How do we start using VibeLevel?
VibeLevel adapts to how much of your existing screening pipeline you want it to touch:
- Assessment only — keep your current process unchanged and add a VibeLevel assessment before the first interview round.
- Application funnel + assessment — let candidates apply directly through VibeLevel, with AI-based scoring for filtering and shortlisting.
- Live assessment during the interview — use VibeLevel as the shared workspace during the first interview round itself.
How long does onboarding take?
A single role using a pre-built template or the AI Assessment Builder can typically be configured, tested, and published the same day. Deeper adoption — such as the application-funnel option, ATS integration, or an enterprise rollout across multiple roles and teams — usually takes a few days.
Assessments and scoring
Are candidates allowed to use AI?
Yes. We want the assessment environment to reflect how enterprise teams already work with tools like Claude and Copilot. VibeLevel measures more than prompting — it runs a proprietary Skills & AI Fluency engine built from thousands of real-world assessments. Candidates need solid subject-matter knowledge, plus the ability to prompt, review, and iterate with AI, to demonstrate their skills.
How long does an assessment take?
Assessment time is configurable based on complexity. Simple assessments can be completed in about 20 minutes, while more advanced ones can run up to 60 minutes. For complex projects the platform supports up to 24 hours of total active time, spread over several days. Candidates work asynchronously and can pause and resume as needed.
What does the hiring team receive after an assessment?
The report includes a session overview, skills demonstrated, and candidate contribution beyond what the AI produced. It covers key strengths and gaps across the scored dimensions, plus a code and stack review for coding assessments and suggested interview probes. It also includes a short video Q&A about what the candidate built, full session access, proctoring signals, and a responsible-AI-use check.
How does VibeLevel separate candidate contribution from output quality?
VibeLevel treats these as separate evidence layers: final deliverable quality describes the submitted work, while candidate contribution reflects the candidate’s reasoning, decisions, edits, review, validation, and ownership during the session.
How are required skills tied to the role?
The assessment is configured with the role’s required skills, tech stack, and evaluation criteria. The report shows which skills the candidate demonstrated while using AI, and the evidence behind each one, rather than treating resume keywords as proof of capability.
Can we use our own tech stack, requirements, and standards?
Yes. The role-specific workflow can be built around your job requirements, stack, tickets or scenarios, quality bar, and assessment criteria. Teams can configure an existing template or use the AI Assessment Builder to generate a custom assessment from a job description.
Does VibeLevel support non-coding roles?
Yes. Non-coding assessments use a document-focused workspace and can cover roles such as product, marketing, design, business writing, and operations. Candidates produce a work artifact that is evaluated against the configured criteria.
Does VibeLevel integrate with our ATS?
VibeLevel supports native Ashby and Lever integrations — teams can trigger an assessment from a pipeline stage and sync candidate scores or status back to the ATS. Direct links and careers-page embedding are also available, and support for additional ATS platforms is planned.
Trust, integrity, and privacy
How do integrity signals work?
VibeLevel captures session and behavior signals that may indicate outside assistance, such as browser extensions or overlays, external paste, automated typing, tab switching, or unusual activity patterns. These signals support human review.
Is identity verification available?
Yes. Identity verification is an optional setting per assessment. With candidate consent, the session captures a baseline webcam photo and periodic photos for review, and assessments can also require LinkedIn login. VibeLevel does not use automated AI face-matching — photos are provided for the hiring team to validate. Candidates can delete their identity photos from their account.
How is candidate data handled?
Candidate score reports are retained according to the hiring team’s requirements, and data is auto-deleted based on those requirements. Candidates can delete their ID photos from their account at any time.
Does VibeLevel automatically decide who to hire?
No. VibeLevel produces structured evidence, recommendations, risks, and interview probes based on an extensively tested framework, so hiring teams can make better-informed decisions.
Pricing and plans
What hiring plans are available?
VibeLevel Hiring offers three plans: Free, Plus, and Enterprise. Free and Plus are for solo or individual hiring users. Enterprise is for organizations with multiple members who need shared templates, shared score reports, and role-based access control. See the pricing page for current details.
What products does VibeLevel offer besides Hiring?
- Aura / Builders & Individuals: practice sessions, assessments, Aura scoring, badges, and shareable profiles.
- Teams: internal AI Skills Sprints, shared challenges, org leaderboards, and member management.
